Bowyer took a 50% pay cut to come and play for us...

Re: BT farewell to the Boelyn- Rio Fernidand
It is sad that so many great players left us, but also indicative of where we were as a club. Watching the testimonial and seeing the likes of Bellamy and Bowyer talking about what the club meant to them was nice - especially since neither was there for long.

We were a selling club, basically. Sinclair was on the fringes of the England squad, Bellamy was sold to balance the books, and Rio was too good a price to turn down. I just wish we had bought three good players with the Leeds cash instead of the eight flops we frittered it on...

Re: BT farewell to the Boelyn- Rio Fernidand
Rio went to the biggest club in the world at a very successful period in their history and helped them win many trophies. He wasn't a bit player at the end of his career there, he was one of their stars. I know we would all like him to claim allegiance to us but the Man U thing will always dominate his blood more than we will sadly. But he certainly doesn't hold us in any disdain; he always speaks highly of us and Tony Carr particularly.

A lot of those players that you mentioned (that do still have us in the blood) - for most of them we were their biggest gig. Sinclair arguably played the best football of his career with us. Ashton had just got himself in to the England fold before having to retire. It didn't work out for Bilic at Everton and he had to retire. Of course they had a rapport with the fans that will never fade, but so did Rio and he still loves us. There's no law that states when a player leaves us he HAS to place us above any other team he's played for (though their fucking should be).

Joe Cole engineered a transfer at XMAS of our relegation year under Rodent
Terry Brown agreed he could go at the end of the season as long as he made a statement to the press saying what a good manager Glen Roeder was, (and he did) cause Brown was under pressure to sack him from 90% of the fans.
Brown didnt want to pay out for a decent manager because he was planning to sell up which is why he appointed the cheap option Roeder in the first place.
Joe Cole and Terry Brown are cunts of the highest order.

Sky Sports did a Joe Cole Fantasy Football special last week and he couldn't stop talking about growing up supporting Chelsea.
